Mental Wellness Therapy in Chico - Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a therapist and getting started with counseling can feel vulnerable, and it’s normal to want clarity before you begin. This FAQ page is meant to make the process a little easier. Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about therapy in our Chico office and telehealth throughout California, so you can feel informed, supported, and confident as you take this next step.
Q1: Do you offer both in-person and telehealth sessions in Chico?
Yes. We offer in-person therapy at our Chico office and secure, HIPAA-compliant online sessions for clients anywhere in California. Many people choose a mix of in-person and telehealth depending on their schedule, childcare, health, or travel needs.
Q2: Where is your Chico office located, and is there parking?
Our Chico office is located at:

Inspired Life Counseling
1025 Village Lane
Chico, CA 95926

There is convenient parking near the office, and the area is easy to access from most parts of Chico.
Q3: How do I choose which Chico therapist is right for me?
A great fit matters. On our Chico Therapists page, you can read short introductions to each clinician, learn about their specialties, and click through to their full bios. If you’re still unsure, you’re welcome to reach out and let us know what you’re looking for (for example: “teen girl with anxiety,” “faith-sensitive couples work,” or “trauma and ADHD”). We’ll do our best to match you with a therapist whose skills and schedule fit your needs.
Q4: Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes. Some of our therapists offer evening and weekend sessions, especially our fully online clinicians who serve both Chico and Redding. This can be helpful if you work full-time, share a vehicle, commute, or have a more rigid schedule. Availability varies by therapist, so we’ll talk with you about your scheduling needs when you reach out.
Q5: Do you take my insurance?
We are in-network with: Inspired Life Counseling
  • Partnership HealthPlan of California
  • Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal
  • Tricare West
For many other employer-sponsored plans, we often provide courtesy billing: we verify your benefits, submit claims, and help you use your out-of-network benefits whenever possible.

Insurance can be confusing, so please feel free to call or text (530) 809-1702 or email [email protected], and we’ll help you understand your options.
Q6: Do you work with teens, couples, and individuals?
Yes. Our Chico team includes therapists who work with: Inspired Life Counseling
  • Teens and their parents
  • Individual adults
  • Couples (including premarital and long-term partners)
Many of our clinicians are trained in EMDR for trauma, and several are trained or in training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. When you reach out, you can let us know what kind of support you’re seeking, and we’ll recommend a therapist whose training and interests are a good match.
Q7: Can I use telehealth if I live outside of Chico?
Yes. Our therapists are licensed in California, so we can see clients who live anywhere in the state, as long as you are physically in California at the time of your session. Telehealth can be especially helpful if you live in a nearby rural or mountain community, have transportation challenges, or prefer the comfort of your own space.
Q8: How soon can I usually get an appointment?
Availability depends on the therapist and time of year, but we always do our best to get you scheduled as soon as possible. When you call, text, or email, you can share your preferred days and times (for example, “Mondays after 4 pm” or “any morning before 11”), and we’ll look for the earliest good fit. If your first choice of therapist is full, we may offer you another clinician who has similar training and a more open schedule.
Q9: Is therapy confidential?
In almost all situations, what you share in therapy is confidential and stays between you and your therapist. There are a few important safety-related exceptions (such as concerns about serious harm to yourself or others, or abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult), which your therapist will review with you at the beginning of treatment. If you have questions or worries about privacy, we’re always happy to talk through them with you.
Q10: How do I get started with a Chico therapist?
You can call or text (530) 809-1702 or email [email protected] to get started. Inspired Life Counseling
Let us know a little about what you’re hoping to work on and what your schedule is like. From there, we’ll help you connect with a therapist who feels like a thoughtful, caring fit for you.

MISSION: To provide a tranquil and healing space in which people in our community can find calmness internally through the relaxing atmosphere, along with respectful and engaging therapy conversations.  To contribute to happier and more secure families by helping individuals, couples, and teens heal within and thereby creating different ways of engaging with themselves, the world, and those they love.

VISION: Creating a new kind of therapy experience in the Chico and Redding areas in which therapists have smaller caseloads, giving them the flexibility to spend more time with clients as needed - longer sessions, phone calls, client-centered advocacy.  Creating a space in our community where clients can go between sessions to sit, linger, and re-center themselves when they're having difficult days.  A place to belong while they heal their hearts and relationships.  A therapy office that embodies the unconditional love of Christ, no matter what a person's gender identity, romantic disposition, or previous life hardships, experiences, or actions might have been.  To be a safe place.
