Hello! My name is Dan Katz. I received my Master of Social Work degree in 1976, and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1979. I worked in the child welfare field for 37 years, and have been a mental health clinician and supervisor since 2007, in both public and private clinic settings.

My specialized training has included EMDR for trauma ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Suicide Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I work best with adults, seniors, and couples of all ages and genders. Most of my clients experience Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment and Mood Disorders, Grief and Loss, Trauma, or Marriage and Communication issues.

I am an eternal optimist, and believe strongly in the practice of training clients to empower themselves through mindfulness practices and trauma processing. My work includes coaching distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills, and I believe strongly in helping clients develop self care regimens. My focus will often include working to assist clients in finding a balance between work, home, school, family, socialization, and physical health.

Goal setting is an important component of therapy, so we work together to establish therapeutic goals that are reasonable and attainable. I regularly engage with my clients in creating a balance between sessions that will follow the client’s direction, and those that will need some therapist “push” to confront painful emotions or controversial issues.

My wife and I have been married since 1985. We raised six children, and are currently raising one of our grandsons. I have coached numerous Little League and Jr. Giants baseball teams, and also have been volunteering with two local homeless shelter teams. I contribute to a multitude of charitable and community service organizations, exercise daily, and embrace a healthy eating lifestyle.
