🌿 Frequently Asked Questions

Inspired Life Counseling, Inc.
At Inspired Life Counseling, we believe that healing begins with safety, connection, and compassion. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about therapy and how we can support you on your journey.
💬 About Therapy
What types of therapy do you offer?

We specialize in trauma recovery, EMDR therapy, anxiety and depression treatment, couples counseling, and support through life transitions such as grief, divorce, and career change.
Our clinicians are experienced in helping adult survivors of childhood abuse, domestic violence, and complex PTSD — what we sometimes call “death by a thousand cuts.”
What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain heal from trauma and distressing memories.

It supports the natural processing of painful experiences so they no longer feel as intense or disruptive in daily life.
What does therapy look like at Inspired Life Counseling?

Each session is tailored to you. We begin by exploring what brought you here and what you hope to change.
Together, we’ll build coping tools, process pain safely, and help you reconnect with your inner strength and sense of peace.

What is complex PTSD, or “death by a thousand cuts”?

Complex PTSD often develops from prolonged or repeated trauma, especially in childhood or difficult relationships.
The phrase “death by a thousand cuts” describes the impact of many small emotional wounds that add up over time.

Therapy helps you rediscover safety, identity, and self-worth — one compassionate step at a time.

🌸 Clients We Serve

We work with adults, teens, couples, and professionals facing trauma, anxiety, grief, or major life changes. We also provide specialized support for widows, widowers, and individuals navigating new seasons of life.

Yes! Telehealth sessions are available for anyone physically located in California. In-person sessions are offered in our Chico and Redding offices. Many clients choose a hybrid model, attending both online and in-person appointments for flexibility and comfort.

Our practice focuses on teens and adults. If you’re seeking therapy for a younger child, we’re happy to help connect you with trusted child therapists in the community.

🧠 The Therapy Experience

Your first session is all about you — what brings you here, your story, and your goals. We’ll take time to understand your needs and create a plan together. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — we move at your pace.

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some clients work through specific goals over a few months, while others continue longer for deeper healing and growth. We’ll check in regularly to ensure therapy continues to feel supportive and aligned with your goals.

That’s completely okay — many of our clients are new to therapy. Your therapist will guide you step by step, answer questions, and create a space where you feel safe, respected, and seen.

💳 Fees, Insurance & Policies

Inspired Life Counseling is in-network with several of the managed medi-cal providers such as Partnership Health Plan of CA and Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal. Inspired Life is currently an out-of-network provider for employer sponsored insurance. However, despite being out-of-network most of our clients have the experience of in-network support because we advocate for our clients to their insurance and help them use their out-of-network benefits through insurance verification and claims billing. Most clients need to meet their deductible, and then their insurance will pay a % of the session. The majority of our clients using their out-of-network benefits pay around $30-50 per session out of pocket, and many clients also use HSA or FSA funds for therapy. We would be glad to contact your insurance on your behalf to verify your specific benefits for you.

Rates vary depending on the therapist and service. Please visit our Rates & Policies page or contact us directly for current pricing and availability.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled within less than 24 hours may be billed at the full session rate.

🕊️ Confidentiality & Care

Yes. Your privacy is deeply respected. Everything shared in therapy is kept confidential except in rare legal circumstances — such as concerns about safety or abuse reporting — as required by law.

Our therapists do not prescribe medication. However, we collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure you receive holistic and integrated care.

🌞 Getting Started

You can request a consultation or book a session directly through our website , by phone, or by email. Our intake coordinator will help match you with the therapist best suited to your needs.

The best way to know is to meet us. During your first consultation with our scheduler, you’ll get a feel for our approach and values. We’ll also help you explore what kind of therapy — and therapist — feels right for you.

We’re a boutique, trauma-informed practice built on authenticity, connection, and compassion. Our environment is warm and private — never clinical or rushed. We believe healing is courageous work, and every step you take toward it matters deeply.

MISSION: To provide a tranquil and healing space in which people in our community can find calmness internally through the relaxing atmosphere along with respectful and engaging therapy conversations.  To contribute to happier and more secure families by helping individuals, couples, and teens heal within and thereby creating different ways of engaging with themselves, the world, and those they love.

VISION: Creating a new kind of therapy experience in the Chico and Redding areas in which therapists have smaller caseloads, giving them the flexibility to spend more time with clients as needed - longer sessions, phone calls, client centered advocacy.  Creating a space in our community where clients can go between sessions just to sit, linger, and re-center themselves when they're having difficult days.  A place to belong while they heal their hearts and relationships.  A therapy office that embodies the unconditional love of Christ no matter what a person's gender identity, romantic disposition, or previous life hardships, experiences, or actions might have been.  To be a safe place.
