"I believe that we were created on purpose, for a purpose and that the Lord instructed us to seek wise counsel. I believe that therapy is a way to find that wise counsel from someone unbiased in your life and who can look at patterns, people, and choices from a perspective you don't get on a regular basis from the people in your life.
I further believe it was God's calling on my life to help His people - and His people are ALL PEOPLE, not just the Christians. He happened to make me passionate about and good at helping people in one hour increments, one-on-one, and he made me smart enough to get through grad school and all these dang advanced trainings post-grad that I'm constantly attending. :)" - Jessica Darling, LMFT scroll down for Jessica's appointment request form.

In-Person Sessions in Redding & Chico
A grounded, relational approach to therapy — for individuals, couples, and parentsHello — and welcome. Reaching out for therapy is a meaningful step, and I’m honored you’re here. My hope is to offer a space that feels thoughtful, respectful, and human — a place where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself, or hold everything together alone.
I work best with high-functioning adults, professionals, couples, and parents of teenagers who may look “okay” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected on the inside. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, relationship strain, parenting stress, faith questions, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from carrying a lot for a long time. I am a Christian therapist, and my faith shapes the way I approach care — with humility, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s dignity.
I am also very aware that many LGBTQIA+ individuals have been deeply hurt by religious communities. I take that reality seriously. In therapy, my role is not to judge, persuade, or change who you are. My role is to offer a thoughtful, respectful space where you can explore your experiences, values, and goals without pressure or agenda. You do not need to share my beliefs - or any beliefs - to be treated with care here. Who I Work Best With
Clients often come to me when they are:
How I Approach Therapy
My style is relational, experiential, and practical. I genuinely live by the phrase “human first, therapist second.” You’ll find me to be warm, present, and real — casually dressed, conversational — while my clinical mind is always working in the background to help you move forward. I am fully trained in:
I regularly pursue advanced training and continuing education, often traveling to learn new modalities and stay current with research. This ongoing learning allows me to offer care that is both deep and well-rounded. A Note on Faith and Values
I am a Christian who is a therapist, and my faith shapes the way I approach care — with humility, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s dignity. I am also very aware that many LGBTQIA+ individuals and others have been deeply hurt by religious communities. I take that reality seriously. In therapy, my role is not to judge, persuade, or change who you are. My role is to offer a thoughtful, respectful space where you can explore your experiences, values, and goals without pressure or agenda. You do not need to share my beliefs — or any beliefs — to be treated with care here. I also offer therapy for Christians in California who want counseling that respects their faith without turning therapy into a sermon space. Parenting & Family Perspective
Early in my career, I specialized in early childhood behavior and parenting, training through the University of Queensland in the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) and working extensively with families in their homes. That foundation continues to shape my work today, especially with parents of teenagers, where understanding family dynamics, emotional regulation, and attachment is essential. Children and teens thrive when parents feel supported, grounded, and emotionally healthy — and I’m passionate about helping families move in that direction. A Bit About Me
On a personal note, I love my family deeply. I have an adult son (now married) and two younger children still in elementary school. Life outside the therapy room includes parenting, managing a household, sneaking in naps when possible, and taking our oversized tent on summer camping trips — even when we swear we’re “done camping.” My path here hasn’t been linear. I’ve changed careers, navigated single parenting, marriage, divorce, business ownership, and the demands of real life. I bring that lived perspective with me into the therapy room, alongside clinical training, because understanding heartache, hope, stress, and healing matters. Getting Started
The easiest way to begin is to call our general office line or complete the contact form below. I’ll be honest — it can be challenging to reach me personally for an initial appointment because I spend significant time with my existing clients. It’s not great for business, but it’s part of how I work. When you are my client, you truly have my attention and care. If you’re wondering whether this might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out. You don’t have to have everything figured out - we can start where you are. |
