LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in California

Compassionate, respectful care — rooted in dignity, faith, and clinical integrity
Meet Our Therapists
Appointment Info
If you or your loved one would benefit from support in Tagalog/Filipino, explore our Filipino language therapy page.
Calm counseling space with two chairs and a small rainbow flag, representing LGBTQ-affirming mental health support and emotional safety.
At Inspired Life Counseling, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion — regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship structure.

We offer LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy for individuals, couples, and teens, including minority stress, relationship concerns, trauma healing, and belonging. Our trauma-informed clinicians respect all identities and walk with you toward well-being. We are committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, seen, and respected.
What We Help With
LGBTQ+ clients seek therapy for many of the same reasons anyone else does - and sometimes for reasons shaped by lived experience.  We support clients with concerns such as:

Anxiety, depression, and stress
Identity exploration and self-acceptance
Relationship and family dynamics
Religious or spiritual conflict
Trauma, shame, or minority stress
Life transitions and questions of belonging
We offer secure telehealth therapy throughout California, which can be especially meaningful for individuals living in areas where affirming, respectful care feels harder to find.

EMDR therapy for trauma and LGBTQ clients

Couples counseling and LGBTQ+ relationships
Respecting Faith, Identity & Spiritual Conflict
You may notice that many of the therapists who work for Inspired Life Counseling are Christian, and many are not.  Regardless of our individual religious beliefs, our practice is grounded in a worldview that emphasizes love, humility, and care for those who have historically been marginalized or harmed.

We recognize that many LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced deep pain at the hands of religious communities. We take that reality seriously.

As therapists, we do not impose beliefs or attempt to change who you are. Our role is to walk alongside you with respect, curiosity, and compassion — supporting your mental health and well-being.
Diverse group of adults engaged in supportive conversation, reflecting affirming therapy where clients feel respected, valued, and understood.
Group of friends sitting together in a supportive environment with a sign acknowledging that microaggressions can hurt and feelings matter.
This page is for people seeking thoughtful, affirming mental health care — whether or not faith plays a role in their lives. Some clients come specifically because they want therapy that honors both identity and spirituality; others want a therapist who will treat them with respect. Both are welcome.
If you are considering therapy and wondering whether this space might be a good fit, you are welcome to reach out. We would be honored to walk alongside you with care and respect.

Meet Our Team
Appointment Info
Do I have to share your faith to work with you?
No. Therapy is not a place for belief requirements. Clients are welcome regardless of faith, spirituality, or worldview.
Is this a "conversion" or faith-based therapy approach?
No. We do not attempt to change a client’s sexual orientation or gender identity, nor do we impose religious beliefs in therapy.
Can I talk about religion or spirituality if it's part of my story?
Yes — if it’s meaningful to you. Faith, doubt, and spiritual conflict can all be explored at your pace and comfort level.
Our commitments:
To our clients, we are committed to providing: an ethical, supportive environment equipped with well-trained, compassionate staff who are prepared to meet you where you are in your journey; a physical environment that honors the need for safety, while also being conducive to healing; an inclusive, trauma-informed group of professional therapists who are passionate about seeing others heal and achieve their
goals.

To our employees, we are committed to providing you with an
exceptional internal culture and environment that offers quality leadership, opportunities for personal and professional growth, a compassionate experience, warmth, unconditional regard, and lots of laughs.

To our community, we are committed to
developing partnerships with community-based programs, advocacy groups, physicians,
schools, hospitals, and other professionals to provide exceptional continuing care, high-quality trauma-informed psychoeducation, advocacy for those who need it, and compassionate service.

MISSION: To provide a tranquil and healing space in which people in our community can find calmness internally through the relaxing atmosphere, along with respectful and engaging therapy conversations.  To contribute to happier and more secure families by helping individuals, couples, and teens heal within and thereby creating different ways of engaging with themselves, the world, and those they love.

VISION: Creating a new kind of therapy experience in the Chico and Redding areas in which therapists have smaller caseloads, giving them the flexibility to spend more time with clients as needed - longer sessions, phone calls, client-centered advocacy.  Creating a space in our community where clients can go between sessions to sit, linger, and re-center themselves when they're having difficult days.  A place to belong while they heal their hearts and relationships.  A therapy office that embodies the unconditional love of Christ, no matter what a person's gender identity, romantic disposition, or previous life hardships, experiences, or actions might have been.  To be a safe place.
