Life in Chico can be full and demanding — balancing work, relationships, parenting, responsibilities, community, and everything that comes with living in Northern California. Many people do a great job holding everything together on the outside, while privately feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or simply stretched too thin.

Telehealth therapy allows you to receive compassionate, grounded support without having to commute, rearrange schedules, or travel to an office. It’s a flexible, private way to get consistent therapy from the comfort of your home, office, or any private space.

Inspired Life Counseling offers secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy to adults in Chico and surrounding Butte County communities.
You don't need to be tech-savvy to use online therapy. Our telehealth sessions are simple and straightforward—just like a phone call, but you can see your therapist on your screen. We'll walk you through the setup process step-by-step, and our team is always here to help if you have any questions. Whether you're checking in from your home office, the kitchen table, or even during a break in your workday, therapy can happen right where you are. No long drives down the mountain or across town. No complicated apps to learn. Just real, meaningful therapy that fits into your life.

Who Telehealth Helps

A woman sitting comfortably at home with a warm drink while talking with her therapist through a telehealth online counseling session.
Many of our Chico-area clients are:
  • busy professionals balancing multiple demands
  • parents who rarely slow down long enough to notice how tired they are
  • caregivers who care deeply for others but struggle to make space for themselves
  • high-functioning adults who appear “fine,” but feel overloaded inside
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
Sometimes you just need a place to breathe, settle, and feel like yourself again.

What We Help With

Telehealth therapy can support:
  • anxiety and stress
  • burnout and emotional exhaustion
  • difficulty setting boundaries
  • overwhelm and mental load
  • life transitions and adjustment
  • self-esteem and self-worth struggles
Therapy is a place to slow down, understand what’s happening inside, and find steadier ground.

Is Telehealth as Effective as In-Person Therapy?

For many people, yes.

Telehealth can be especially helpful for:
  • busy schedules
  • long commutes
  • limited childcare
  • fluctuating energy levels
  • days when getting to an office feels like “too much”

Our clients often appreciate that therapy can fit into their real life — without losing depth, warmth, or connection.
Living and working on a farm or in one of our gorgeous mountain communities means your time is precious. You can't just close up shop and drive an hour into town for a therapy appointment. With online sessions, you get the care you need without losing hours to travel time. Schedule a session during lunch, early morning before the day gets busy, or in the evening when things settle down. You're in control. Our therapists understand the demands of rural and agricultural life—the long hours, the physical demands, the isolation. We're here to support you without adding more stress to your plate. Real therapy. Real convenience. Right from home.

Do You Also Offer In-Person Sessions?

Yes. While many Chico-area clients choose telehealth, in-person therapy is available at our Chico office depending on clinician availability. Some clients even combine both, choosing whatever works best week by week.

Frequently Asked Questions about Online Sessions in Butte County

Does telehealth therapy really work as well as in-person sessions?
Yes. Research consistently shows telehealth therapy to be just as effective as in-person care for most concerns, including anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, and relationships. Inspired Life Counseling even uses a special online platform to deliver effective and high-quality EMDR sessions online.  You can do the deep healing work in the safe comfort of your space. Many Chico clients actually appreciate being able to meet in the comfort and privacy of their own home, without the stress of rushing across town.
What if I live outside of Chico in a nearby mountain community and my internet isn’t great?
You’re not alone—this is very common in our area. We’ll always start our session via secure video, and if the connection becomes unstable, we can seamlessly switch to a telephone session so you never lose your appointment, momentum, or progress.
Is telehealth even necessary in Chico when everything in town is only 5–15 minutes away?
That’s fair—Chico traffic isn’t like the Bay Area 😊. But telehealth isn’t just about convenience; it reduces missed sessions due to illness, childcare, fatigue, winter weather, smoke/air quality days, and busy schedules. It helps many clients stay consistent, which is one of the biggest predictors of therapy success.
What if I’m a stay-at-home parent and don’t have childcare?
Telehealth can make therapy possible when childcare isn’t. Many Chico parents meet during nap time, while kids watch a movie, or when another adult is briefly home. We keep sessions flexible, supportive, and realistic for real-life families.

MISSION: To provide a tranquil and healing space in which people in our community can find calmness internally through the relaxing atmosphere, along with respectful and engaging therapy conversations.  To contribute to happier and more secure families by helping individuals, couples, and teens heal within and thereby creating different ways of engaging with themselves, the world, and those they love.

VISION: Creating a new kind of therapy experience in the Chico and Redding areas in which therapists have smaller caseloads, giving them the flexibility to spend more time with clients as needed - longer sessions, phone calls, client-centered advocacy.  Creating a space in our community where clients can go between sessions to sit, linger, and re-center themselves when they're having difficult days.  A place to belong while they heal their hearts and relationships.  A therapy office that embodies the unconditional love of Christ, no matter what a person's gender identity, romantic disposition, or previous life hardships, experiences, or actions might have been.  To be a safe place.
